Test your Color IQ for Artists,Designers and curiousity seekers.

Are you an artist?Maybe a designer?Could it be that your work or hobbies make it necessary to use and distinguish between color shades. If so I have found the test for you.I took it and found it to be an interesting insight into my own talent.I also saw where I needed to improve my eye.The scoring work the opposite as other tests where as you want the lowest score possible.0 being the lowest and 100 being the highest.I scored a 16 which I thought was pretty good, although I will take it over a few more times. So take the test and see how well you do,then leave me a comment on how well you did.I'm curious to see how many of you beat my score.

As an artist or someone involved in art, design or fashion it really is crucial to distinguish between hues. This alone would be enough reason to take this little test and see where you set.I'm truly happy I found this and now can share this tool with all of you.Don't forget to let me know how you did,oh and good luck.

When you go to the link you should be right at the test.If not just click on your country and language this will bring you to the color IQ test page.I tested the link and it seems to be working properly. When you are done with the test click your back button to leave your test results in the comments and make me jealous.

This is the link: Test your color IQ

16 is the score to beat zero being the best.Remember don't lie you'll only be cheating yourself.

PAINTING OF NAKED GIRL FROM THE MET

RECLINING NUDE BY RENOIR

This is a painting I Photographed at the Met in NYC.I was really drawn in to this piece for the colors and its composition. The color is bold and the composition done in an impressionistic style.I can not remember the artist who created the painting,so if you know please leave it in the comments.Other than Abstracts, paintings of nude girls or women are some of my favorites. The masters, ie. Renoir,Modigliani and Matisse seemed to capture these images really well.I believe it has to do with thier broad knowledge of color and how light effects it.Hence, the reason they were the masters. From the models point of view it must have been quite flattering to be painted by a master of the arts.To be captured forever in time at the height of their youth.Truly this falls just short of immortality. When done right, these paintings can be sexy and quite erotic as well as being tasteful. Not a pornography but a celebration to the beauty of the female form.I enjoy these more as impressionistic paintings than realism. For me this seems to be more artistic and allows the one who is viewing the piece to see the model through the artists eyes.On the other hand this can also give insight into the artists mind.
I hope to be posting more original works real soon.I apologize for the delay, but I have been quite busy lately and have been slack on my photography and the starting of new projects.Winter has also had a little effect on painting due to the lack of ventilation.I was hoping to have a private studio by now but that has been put on hold for awhile.
Take care and see you soon.

And here is a bonus Klimt for you to enjoy.I have to say, viewing a photo is nowhere near as good as seeing the real thing. This is the best I can do for you right now.I would suggest to anyone going to NYC.Stop in to the Metropolitan Museum of Art you won't regret the visit. It's not just paintings there is so much more. From time to time I will try to post photos from my collection of the Met.

Painting Music/Deviant Artist

This is an example of the music I like to paint to.Its passion is unmistakable and easily translates on to the canvas.Mood is a driving factor in music selection also.Flamenco may not suit your mood all the time.I have painted to Led Zepplin as well as Mozart and pretty much anything in between.I'm not opposed to painting to punk rock like Rancid or the Sex Pistols either.Like I said it all depends on the mood and what you want to paint. In the past a lot of my favorite painters used drugs and alcohol to transcend their own reality. This allowed them to break through to where freedom lies in their mind. Some of whom we revere today with out realizing that they were addicts and deviant artists .Unfortunately many of them died from their abuses or simply went mad.Don't get me wrong I've had my experiences but have retreated to the safety of music and meditation. What ever your vise is,treat it as a tool like a brush or paint. You will receive many rewards in your work knowing how and when to use these tools.Make a choice that works for you and enjoy yourself as you explore your art.

Happy Valentines Day XOXO

PHOTO STUDY-ROOTS AND KNOTS 001

copyright by Gregorio

I do a lot of exploring with my camera to find different textures, colors and subjects. One of my favorites is nature, trees and they're root systems(knots)to be exact, but not limited to.In this particular photo I manipulated it to increase the textures.I find this helpful when looking for inspiration, broadening what my eyes see naturally.Take a good long look hopefully you'll be inspired too.

PAINTING/GOOD FORTUNE-CHINESE NEW YEAR

copyright by Gregoro

This is a painting done in acrylic where I created the back ground first. Then made a stencil(free hand)of the symbol, splattered gold paint, and out lined it in black to make it pop a little bit.I have to say it was not one of my most creative moments but none the less I still like it.The symbol is for good fortune in Chinese and seeing that it is the year of the Ox,I thought this to be an appropriate time to post. You know,I also thought in these troubling times we could all use a little" GOOD FORTUNE",so lets just say this is my gift to everyone.Pass it on to all and anyone in need by word of mouth or a simple email. The more people it touches maybe the more smiles and fortune I can spread.Thank you.

I hope you enjoyed this post and may it bring you peace as well as protection in the coming year.
