Respect Your Elders(photo and short comment)

This photo was taken in my neighborhood.These trees line the river and are very old oaks,hence the title "Respect Your Elders".It is also,I hope,a reminder to people the beauty and stature of these magnificent trees.As a mater of fact these date back at least 250-300 years.It would be a crime to simply cut them down for lumber or any other reason.
There is also a very small park along this river that is said to be haunted.I'm not so sure that's true but it's kind of interesting to think that it might be true.They say some times you can hear children playing,laughing and singing.There is also supposedly an apparition of a man who walks the park and sits in some of the parks benches.I have yet to experience any of this but I keep an open mind about it.
I thought it would be a nice post to place at this time being the Halloween season and that I have a small photo of this in the right column.

I'm Always Amazed at What You'll See (photo)

I'm still amazed at what one can see when you slow down and look at the word around us.A Tai Chi teacher of mine years ago tried to explain this to me years ago.He said'"most people are unaware of the world around them.They walk around at a very fast pace and never really enjoy the true nature of our surroundings".He went further to explain it like this.Take your hand and move it side to side in front of your eyes and what you see is just a blur of your hand.There is no detail,now slow it down and it starts to come in to focus.The slower you can slow it down the more focus and detail you will attain.Now if you can slow it to a stop all of the lines and the detail come to lite,you might even see things you never saw before.Apply this to life,the way you look at the world and even the way you create your art.Things start to take on a new and beautiful look.As in this photo I took on one of my shoots.Can you see what I saw? Blog Action Day '08 Poverty

As I was talking about in my latest post.If you slow down you start to see things you never saw before.You don't have to go half way around the world to see human suffering.It can be in your own neighborhood.Unlike cancer this can be treated and wiped out.All it takes is some care and compassion.So please reach out your hand,feel what it is like to really be a humanitarian.If your busy lifestyle wont allow you to be proactive at least donate to a just cause.Whether it's in your community or around the world every penny counts.May you all be blessed with kindness and compassion.
